PVE WotLK Enhancement Shaman DPS Guide (Short)

Welcome to our PVE Enhancement Shaman guide for WoW WotLK. This guide will show you what you need to know to play the Shaman class as Enhancement. If you follow this build you should be at the top of the DPS chart in no time!

Talents

For a fresh 80 this build works a lot better. It has cheap shocks and you get mana regen from Stormstrike.

Enhancement build (Low Gear)

This build is for people with almost BiS gear. This build has less Mana regeneration, which is part of why you need the better gear. Your totems are also new better than a Death Knight’s Horn of winter at the cost of a little intellect.

Enhancement build (BiS Gear)

You can also optionally change Ancestral Knowledge to Enhancing Totems.

Glyphs

Major Glyphs

You could replace Windfury Weapon with one of these:

Minor Glyphs

Gems

Gems can change based on your build, equipment and caps. You may need to adjust your gems to account for your gear.

Enchants

You may need to adjust your enchants based on your gear but these are the standard enchants.

Stat Priority

  1. Hit Rating (8% soft cap) (17% desired) (27% hard cap)
  2. Expertise (26)
  3. Attack Power / Haste
  4. Critical strike
  5. Armor Penetration
  6. Agility

Hit rating soft cap is 8% and should be your first priority. This means your special abilities will not miss. Dual wielding has a hit cap of 27% but it’s not reasonable to actually hit the hard cap. You would give up too many useful stats to hit 27%.

Due to the build relying on Maelstrom Weapon and Lightning Bolt you need 17% spell hit.

Hast and attack power give about the same dps boost so it’s more or less a personal choice.

Rotation

You should be dual wielding, it’s much higher DPS.

Windfury Weapon should be on your main-hand and Flametongue Weapon on your off-hand.

Enhance has a very complicated rotation but after a while you get used to it.

Both Feral Spirit and Shamanistic Rage should be used every time they are off cooldown.

PVE WotLK Restoration Shaman Healer Guide (Short)

Welcome to our PVE Restoration Shaman guide for WoW WotLK. This guide will show you what you need to know to play the Shaman class as Restoration. If you follow this build you should be at the top of the Healing meters in no time!

Talents

This is the standard Restoration Shaman build. If you have another Resto Shaman or a Holy Priest with Ancestral Healing, then you can drop it for Elemental Weapons and Cleanse Spirit.

Resto Shaman Build

Glyphs

Major Glyphs

Other viable options depending on your gear.

Minor Glyphs

Gems

Gems can change based on your build, equipment and caps. You may need to adjust your gems to account for your gear.

Enchants

You may need to adjust your enchants based on your gear but these are the standard enchants.

Stat Priority

  1. Spell Power
  2. Haste
  3. Critical Strike
  4. Mp5

Spell power is your main stat because improving it significantly increases your healing.

Haste can reduce your global cooldown to 1 second. The haste soft cap for a resto shaman is 38.7% (1269 rating). This will reduce the cast time of your Lesser Healing Wave to 1 second. You shouldn’t go over 1400 haste.

Critical Strike rating actually does a lot more than just increase your chance to crit with healing spells. It regenerates mana thanks to Improved Water Shield it also increases your chance to proc Ancestral Awakening and improves the chance of 4pT10 with Chain Heal.

Rotation

Setup before the pull

Healing during the fight

Low on mana

If you find yourself out of mana, cast Mana Tide. You can also ask a Priest for Hymn of Hope or a Druid for Innervate.

PVP WotLK Enhancement Shaman Guide (Short)

Welcome to our PVP Enhancement Shaman guide for WoW WotLK. This guide will show you what you need to know to play the Shaman class as Enhancement. If you follow this build you should be king of the arena in no time!

Talents

This first build is a max dps build.

Enhance PVP Build (Damage)

This second build is a Survivability build. This is a good build if you don’t have great PvP gear.

Enhance PVP Build (Survivability)

This third build is a support build. This build works best with (Enhance shaman + Arms Warr + Holy Pally/Resto Druid.

Gems

Gems can change based on your build, equipment and caps. You may need to adjust your gems to account for your gear.

Persistent Earthsiege Diamond May be viable if you are playing an Orc and want to combine this with the racial passive for even further improved stun duration reduction.

Enchants

You may need to adjust your enchants based on your gear but these are the standard enchants.

You should be using either Totem of Quaking Earth or Totem of the Avalanche  though keep in mind Totem of the Avalanche can lower your DPS output if you lose stacks during a stun/fear.

Stat Priority

  1. Spell Penetration (75+, 135 max)
  2. Hit (262 max)
  3. Haste (10% or more)

Rotation

Here is a list of 2v2 and 3v3 teams for an Enhancement shaman

  • Beast Mastery Hunter (Most popular)
  • Mutilate / Combat Rogue
  • Discipline Priest
  • Balance Druid
  • Holy Paladin
  • Arms Warrior
  • Retribution Paladin
  • Frost Mage
  • Arms Warrior + Holy Paladin / Restoration Druid
  • Beast Mastery Hunter + Holy Paladin

PVE WotLK Elemental Shaman DPS Guide (Short)

Welcome to our PVE Elemental Shaman guide for WoW WotLK. This guide will show you what you need to know to play the Shaman class as Elemental. If you follow this build you should be at the top of the DPS chart in no time!

Talents

This is the core dps Elemental Shaman build. I’ll list some options/points below.

Ele Shaman DPS Build

Glyphs

Major Glyphs

Minor Glyphs

Gems

Gems can change based on your build, equipment and caps. You may need to adjust your gems to account for your gear.

If you need to gem for hit or haste then you can use: Veiled Ametrine or Reckless Ametrine.

Enchants

You may need to adjust your enchants based on your gear but these are the standard enchants.

Stat Priority

  1. Hit (17%)
  2. Spell Power
  3. Haste
  4. Critical Strike
  5. Intellect

Like other casters shamans also require 17% hit, to always hit bosses. You can take the Elemental Precision talent which gives 3% hit rating. This will lower your hit rating requirement to 14%.

Spell power is your primary stat as increasing it gives you the biggest DPS boost. Don’t ignore hit cap for spell power, there is no point in having hard hitting spells that never hits.

Haste is our second strongest offensive stat. Only after you get extremely high amounts of haste does critical strike start comparing. You should gear for haste and let your critical strike increase as your gear gets better.

Rotation

  1. Flame Shock
  2. Lava Burst
  3. Elemental Mastery
  4. Lightning Bolt

Everything else will be used when it comes off Cooldown.

Also, if there are multiple mobs then you can use Chain Lightning to increase your DPS.

Also, don’t forget to place your totems before the fight.

WotLK Shaman Guide – Ele (Level 80)

Introduction

This guide is for an Elemental Shaman in PvE, a lot people think that Elemental Shamans are underpowered for Wrath of the Lich King. The guide is pretty much information gathered from across the web, to help players get the most out of there character.

Stats

  • Spellpower is your main focus once you hit the cap in everything else posted below you’ll need point for point in spellpower.
  • Haste Rating is very important to a elemental shaman however you only need to hit the 40% mark which is 1093 rating with your Wrath of Air and 966 if you have a Retribution Paladin in your Party. If you find yourself over the cap you should put those points elsewhere.
  • Hit Rating helps with your total DPS output, yes if you’re a Draenei it will help give you a 1% boost but but you won’t quite get capped. If you are playing with a Draenei you hit cap will on need to be 342, if you’re playing the Horde then you’ll need 368. However if you run with with a Shadow Priest or a Moonkin, then you can remove a total of 79 to your Hit rating meaning you’ll only need a hit rating of 263 (Draenei) and hit rating of 289 (Horde).
  • Critical Rating as it only affects your Lightning Bolt and Flame Shock (your Lava Burst should critical all the time due to Flame Shock being active on the target at every use) and therefore only have average benefit on your DPS.
  • You shouldn’t concern yourself with MP5 or SPIRIT unless you plan on moving into a Restoration Shaman.

Gems

Meta Red Blue Yellow NOT HIT CAPPED
Chaotic Skyflare Diamond Runed Cardinal Ruby Glowing Dreadstone Reckless Ametrine Veiled Ametrine/Rigid King’s Amber

Glyphs

Major Minor
Glyph of Lava Glyph of Renewed Life
Glyph of Lightning Bolt Glyph of Thunderstorm
Glyph of Totem of Wrath Glyph of Water Shield

Totems

Air

Wrath of Air Totem is the totem you benefit of the most, however if no Frost Death Knight/Enhancement Shaman is present in the raid, then Windfury Totem is better for the raid, this all depends on the composition of Melee/Casters.

Earth

This totem is based on what your raid is needs. If a Death Knight is present Strength of Earth Totem is waste, and if a Paladin is using Devotion Aura you shouldn’t use Stoneskin Totem but these are the most valuable Earth Totems, use Tremor Totem when it is needed.

Fire

Totem of Wrath is almost the only totem you should be using. But if required to AoE, you should be using Magma Totem together with Fire Nova and Chain-lightning. Fire Elemental is also a significant DPS increase, but should only be used together with Heroism/Bloodlust.

Water

Healing Stream is almost the only totem you should be using. But ONLY if no Blessing of Wisdom/Restoration Shaman is present you should be using Mana Spring Totem. Cleansing Totem is also a nice if you’re in need a removing poisons/diseases.

Gearscore

  • 2000 – 2500 GS. This is the average gear level for most players, which arrives to Northrend after Outland zones. This gear will help to complete mostly quests during leveling and to run only Nexus, Utgarde Keep, Azjol-Nerub normal mode dungeons.
  • 2500 – 3000 GS. This gear rating is possible to have only from Northrend quests rewards and most normal mode dungeons.
  • 3000 – 3900 GS. This GS is available after farming most Northrend dungeons in Heroic mode and by buying rare and epic items from different faction quartermasters (they offer some gear ilvl 185-200 mostly), after increasing the reputation to Revered or Exalted to them.
  • 3900 – 4900 GS. The barrier of 4kGS is hard enough to overcome. This is the point where some epic items from AH, by crafting them or buying through early farmed Frost and Triumph Emblems will help a lot. At 4100 GS (all items should be over level 200 to be allowed there) is possible to start Frozen Halls dungeon farming in Normal mode, by starting the quest chains – Inside the Frozen Citadel. If your character is in a guild, then this process will be much easier. The Frozen Halls farming in Normal and Heroic modes will help to upgrade your character gear to 5000 GS. If you have some online friends or your guild is patient enough, then at 4500 GS is possible to do some raids in Vault of Archavon, Obsidian Sanctum and Onyxia’s Lair 10 mode ONLY! In this case some well geared tanks and healers are required and, moreover, personal tactic mistakes are not allowed.
  • 4900 – 5300 GS. At this point your character can be invited in 25, Obsidian Sanctum 25, Onyxia’s Lair 25, Naxxramas10/25, Trial of the Crusader 10 Normal ONLY.
  • 5300 – 5600 GS. Probably at this GS interval the real Wotlk PVE raiding begins. This interval opens the access to Icecrown Citadel 10 Normal, Ulduar25, Ruby Sanctum 10 Normal, Trial of the Crusader 25 Normal and 10 Heroic all early described off course. These raids bosses drops epic items lvl 245-251, which can help to tune your character spec in the most flexible and full mode (all slots), and overall gearing going very fast, especially by raiding with guild.
  • 5600 – 6050 GS. This score is required to complete Icecrown Citadel 25 Normal, Ruby Sanctum 25 Normal, Icecrown Citadel 10 Heroic and Trial of the Crusader 25 Heroic and to get The Kingslayer title in the most common mode. I should to admit that Trial of the Crusader 25 Heroic Mode is harder than Icecrown Citadel 25 Normal or Ruby Sanctum 25 Normal. These raids take about 60% of raid events which happens on Wotlk realms, and gear score near 6k is a ticket to do most of them in guilds or with “pugs”.
  • 6050 – 6600 GS. The gear is referred to Icecrown Citadel 25 Heroic and Ruby Sanctum 25 Heroic ONLY. This GS is the “Final Goal” of any PVE raider, which helps to make a Best in Slot characters through raiding. Usually it can take 5 – 6 months to make a Best in Slot geared character by raiding every week, even with a very skilled and organized guild. The marketplace will help here a lot anyway.
  • 6600 – 7000 GS. This is the Legendary Gear Score! Such rating can have only Death Knights, Paladins and Warriors only, by wearing Shadowmourne and a lot of ilvl284 tems. The Paladins and Death Knights can stack their GS to 6800-6900 GS through useful BiS gear. Only Warriors can have 7kGS, because they can stack more useful gear lvl284.

DPS Spell Rotations

Single Target Spell Rotation: The ele shamans should keep FS DoT on their main target all the time, because it provides LvB with 100% crit chance and a lot of damage during combat. I had selected macro reset interval to 5 sec, because this is the max delay interval, which keeps previous described algorithm working. Moreover, Frost Witch’s Regalia with (4) set bonus should help a lot in this.

Algorithm: FS + LvB + 6xLB + LvB + 6xLB. The idea of FS + LvB + 6xLB only is not good, because (4) set bonus procs well and next LvB will keep FS DoT active addition 11-14 sec. The only one LvB per FS is very irrational.
MACRO

/castsequence reset=5 Flame Shock, Lava Burst, Lightning Bolt, Lightning Bolt, Lightning Bolt, Lightning Bolt, Lightning Bolt, Lightning Bolt, Lava Burst, Lightning Bolt, Lightning Bolt, Lightning Bolt, Lightning Bolt, Lightning Bolt, Lightning Bolt
Multiple Targets Spell Rotation: All spells sequence are the same as in previous example, but CL is used after LvB, because LvB will give guaranteed Clearcasting stance and less mana drain from CL off course.

Algorithm: FS + LvB + CL + 5xLB + LvB + CL + 5xLB. The idea of FS + LvB + CL + 5xLB only is not good as explained in previous example.
MACRO

/castsequence reset=5 Flame Shock, Lava Burst, Chain Lightning, Lightning Bolt, Lightning Bolt, Lightning Bolt, Lightning Bolt, Lightning Bolt, Lava Burst, Chain Lightning, Lightning Bolt, Lightning Bolt, Lightning Bolt, Lightning Bolt, Lightning Bolt
One Shot Macro: If your character has some trinkets, with “Use” ability, then modify this macro respectively.

WotLK Shaman Guide – Resto (Level 80)

Introduction:
I want to introduce you in Restoration Shamans in PVE, most likely you will see people are asking for restoration shamans in raids, most of people think it is cause Bloodlust (Heroism) but real need of Restoration Shamans in raids are capability of healing multiple targets at the same time providing raid with totem buffs, carrying high amount of healing done and as far as i know Restoration Shamans can do biggest HPS along with Restoration Druids. To sum up every successful raid needs restoration shaman.

Spec and Glyphs:
You could talk whole day about right spec for restoration shamans,in truth there is no best spec or bad spec ( ofc you can always fail much ;)) Here i want to run you trough some must have talents in order to get your shaman do healing job properly.

First i want to start with talents that are not in restoration tree, those talents are in enhancment tree

Ancestral Knowledge 5/5 Increase your intelligence by 10% (filler and nice int boost)
Improved Shields 3/3 Improves your Earth Shield healing done and provides more mana from Water shields (must have 100%)
Thundering Strikes 2/5 or 5/5 provides with additional critical strike (u must be asking why 2/5 or 5/5 and i will get to that point later, cause its for advanced players)
Elemental Weapons 3/3 increase healing bonus of your Earthliving Weapon Enchant

Now i will get to the Restoration tree part
Improved Healing Wave 5/5 reduces cast time of healing wave no argue with that talent
Tidal Focus 5/5 Reduces mana cost of your healing spells and filler
Improved Water Shield 3/3 Must have
Healing Focus 3/3 Yes u will get pushback in loads of situations in pve, especially in ICC
Tidal Force 1/1 Not obligatory but it comes in handy sometimes
Ancestral Healing this talent gives me hard time to decide,i don’t use it at all since i raid only with guild, and i find it useless but it might come in handy in pug raids and i advise you to take 3/3 points for that
Restorative Totems 3/3 Must have, Healing stream totem is very nice in 25 man raids, and mana totem provides you with nice mana boost in 10 mans
Tidal Mastery 5/5 additional critical for healing spells very nice talent
Nature Swiftness 1/1 Comes in handy when u need to heal someone really fast
Healing Wave not really obligatory i use 3/3 since i most likely end healing Valithria Dreamwalker in raids, and it really helps me,but you don’t really need 3 points there
Purification 5/5 must have no argue with that
Mana Tide Totem 1/1 Must have too,it will save you loads of times of getting oom
Cleanse Spirit 1/1 not really must have but it comes in handy when you are only one to Cleanse
Next talents are must have and every restoration spec uses these:
Blessing of the Eternals 2/2
Improved Chain Heal 2/2
Nature’s Blessing 3/3 yes
Ancestral Awakening 3/3
Earth Shield 1/1
Improved Earth Shield 2/2
Tidal Waves 5/5
Riptide 1/1

Now i want to talk about Glyphs, and there is loads of shaman glyphs that are useless, but i wont bother about those,i ll just name few glyphs that u should use
Major:
1. Glyph of Chain Heal your chain heals heal additional target its must have glyph
2. Glyph of Healing Stream Totem additional healing for your HST
3. Well 3rd glyph is optional, you can go for Earthliving or Earth Shield i would advise to use Glyph of Earth Shield, since i tested both and i got better results for Earth Shield glyph

Minor:
1. Glyph of Water Shield (adds additional orb)
2. Glyph of Reincarnation (no reagent needed)
3. Glyph of Ghost wolf or Glyph of Water walking your choice, doesn’t really change alot

Gear:

Now I want to speak about gear and stats u want for your restoration Shaman. 4/5 t10.5 Restoration Shaman set bonus is your goal, with that bonus your healing done will get really boosted, I advise you to go Head,Shoulder,Chest,Hands set items and legs as offset item. You ask why legs offset? It is really simple, leatherworking provides you with best in slot item that doesnt require token to upgrade to 264 lvl item, and it doesnt cost so much. Lightening Infused Leggings.
Now lets talk about accessories
Neck: Blood Queen’s Crimson Choker (Blood Queen 25 or weekly quest from icc,or loads of money on AH)
Back: Frostbinder’s Shredded Cape Valithria Dreamwalker 25 mode
Bracer: Bloodsunder’s Bracers Rotface 25 mode
Waist: Deathbringer Saurfang 25 man or AH (it is BoE)
Feet: Leatherworking ICC recipe
Ring #1: Exalted with Ashen Verdict
Ring #2 : Marrowgar 25 or AH (it is BoE)
Trinket #1: Emblem of Frost Vendor (60 EoFs)
Trinket #2: Silver of Pure Ice (marrowgar 10 man) or Sollace of the Fallen (Lord Jaraxxsus 25) both trinkets are great, but i would go for sollace
Weapon: Rotface 25 Mode
Shield: Lord Marrowgar 25 mode
Totem: Totem Of Calming Tides (cant find link but its item from Emblem of Triumph Vendor)

Here we come to stats that u want on your gear: Spellpower, Haste, Crit, Mp5 and that is the order u should look for stats, you dont need to much mp5 since u use 2 mana trinkets and few items gives you mp5 only,so dont stack mp5 like noob.Spellpower 1st ofc since it is engine of healing.

Gems:
Red Socket: 23 Spellpower (Runed Cardinal Ruby) or 12 Spellpower 10 Haste (Reckless Ametrine)
Yellow Socket: 12 Spellwpoer 10 haste (Reckless Ametrine)
Blue Socket: 10 Haste +5 Mana per 5 secs (Energized Eye of Zul)
Meta: +21 Critical Strike and chance to restore mana on spellcast ( Insightful Earthsiege Diamond)

Lets Speak about enchants now, there is no really alot of choice when it comes to enchants

Enchants:

Head: 30 spellpower 20 critical strike (Kirin tor quartmaster) or 30 spellpower and 10 mana per 5 seconds (wyrmrest accord quartmaster)
Shoulders:18 spellpower 10 critical strike or 18 spellpower 5 mana per 5 seconds (both are from Sons of Hodir quartmaster)
Cloak: No doubt +23 Haste enchant
Chest: There is 3 enchants for chest that would work very fine +10 stats, +275 mana or +10 mana per 5 seconds your choice really
Bracers: No discussion 30 spellpower
Hands: Same as bracers, no argue with 28 spellpower
Waist: Eternal Belt Buckle for additional Socket
Legs: Brilliant Spellthread +50 Spellpower and + 20 Spirit
Feets: Ok i would go here for weird enchant cuz, there is no resto shamana feet enchant available,so i would go for Icewakler (+12 Hit and +12 Critical Strike), it will add additional Critical Strike, hit is uselesss indeed, but 12 crit>22 spirit>22 stamina>15 stamina+speed
Weapon: +63 Spellpower only one worthy
Shield: +25 Intellect

Rotation and Spells:
Ofcourse there isn’t any strict healer rotation, but you must do to some things right in order go get maximum from your Shaman. Lets Start with Lesser Healing Wave (LWH in furder guide)
I find this skill useless in PVE. Why? Well its lesser healing wave ? heals very low, cant really help anyone in danger inside icc, for x1,75 mana cost u can heal for x2.3, ofcourse u can use it in 5 man dungeons where is good enough, but i still find it useless.

Healing Wave (further HW) When it comes to single target healing HW is the way,i also advise to try use it after Riptide. Why? Tidal Waves talent proc, lowers casting time of HW really good, and in my case it goes under .9 sec which is really fast and strong heal. This skill will allow you to heal single targets really hard even if its not your assignment for single target healing, there will be always exceptions.

Chain Heal (further CH) Yes most valuable and most unique spell that Restoration Shaman has, it is carrying all your healing done it heals 3 targets in 1 wave (4 with glyph) each wave heals less, but it doesn’t matter so much since it gives you great AoE healing power. No matter what encounter in icc you are healing you should have 55%+ healing done in your chain heals, and yes i advise you to spam CH whenever you can ?

Riptide Single target heal, which really doesnt heal so much by itself, but it is really important cause of few things, it places HOT (healing over time) on target which is consumed by CH casted on same target,it provides you with 20% Spell Haste and lowers cast time of HW, so yes use it whenever is off cd

Earth Shield use on Main Tank no argue with that, except there is more Restoration Shamans in raid, then u use on OT or some caster DPS to reduce pushback on that target

Keep Water Shield up,and Earthliving Weapon

Cleanse on need not really your job,but it comes in handy

What totems to use?
Strenght of Earth Totem or Tremor Totem (if boss casts fear)
Flametongue Totem or Frost Ressistance Totem (if there is ele shaman in raid with wrath totem)
Mana Spring Totem in 10 man and Healing Stream Totem in 25 man
Wrath Of Air totem anycase

Role in Raids:

Now lets talk about what others expect from you in raids, like i already said Restoration Shamans arent single target healers your job is to keep raid alive and to do that just keep up with chain heals ? Another very important role of Restoration Shaman as any shaman in raid is right time to cast Bloodlust (Heroism) in most cases its when boss is down to 50% hp,but in particular situations like example Professor Putricide its when 3rd phase starts and etc, mostly wait for raid leader to ask for BL,dont waste it in some stupid situation eg. when Anub A’rak goes underground u pop BL -.-‘ not pro at all ?
