PVE TBC Frost Mage DPS Guide (Short)

Welcome to our PVE Frost Mage guide for WoW TBC. This guide will show you what you need to know to DPS as a Frost Mage in dungeons and raids. This guide covers everything from talents to consumables.

Talents

Frost is not considered a top tier raid spec in TBC. It’s generally accepted as the PVP spec but it can bring a lot of utility to a raid group due to it’s ability to kite.

Frost Mage Build

Gems

Gems can change based on your build, equipment and caps. You may need to adjust your gems to account for your gear.

Blue gems are only worth it to activate your meta gem. After your meta gem requirement has been met fill blue sockets with red gems.

Enchants

You may need to adjust your enchants to your gear.

If you pick up enchanting you can benefit from Enchant Ring – Spellpower on both rings.

Stat Priority

  • Hit cap 164
  • Spell Haste
  • Spell Damage
  • Spell Critical Strike
  • Intellect

Hit cap is 164 as long as you have Elemental Precision providing an extra 3% hit.

Rotation

Frostbolt is your main damaging ability and you pretty much just frostbolt spam the entire fight. Frostbolt also applies Winter’s Chill which you want to keep on the target for the entire fight.

When you have to move a lot you can use Ice Lance to keep Winter’s Chill on the target. Fire Blast is another good filler move when you are having to constantly move.

Summon Water Elemental is a huge DPS boost for you but he is hard to keep alive. Summon Water Elemental benefits from Bloodlust if he is summoned before it is cast so make sure to time that accordingly.

Consumables

Below is a list of consumables which help in any raid.

Professions

  • Tailoring – Tailoring is great for fresh level 70’s because you can make the Spellfire and Spellstrike sets which will only be replaced by T4 or T5.
  • Enchanting – Enchanting both of your rings with Spellpower will give you 24 extra spell power! You can also save money by enchanting your own gear.
  • Leatherworking – This gives your raid the best bonus by crafting Drums of Battle. This is mainly for late game and not t4 raids.
  • Alchemy – Alchemy allows you to make Sorcerer’s Alchemist Stone which is pretty strong. You can also create your own consumables.
  • Jewelcrafting – Great gold making choice and you can make your own gems early on.

PVE TBC Fire Mage DPS Guide (Short)

Welcome to our PVE Fire Mage guide for WoW TBC. This guide will show you what you need to know to DPS as a Fire Mage in dungeons and raids. This guide covers everything from talents to consumables.

Talents

Fire is generally accepted as the best raid spec in TBC. It has the most flexibility, variations and synergy. This spec can top meters and really shine.

This is the standard build until you get good gear. The general rule is to use this spec until you have enough gear to not run out of mana on boss fights with Icy Veins.

Fire Mage Build

This is the highest damage build but it burns through mana like crazy. Once you have the mana to use this spec, it’s definitely the way to go.

Fire Mage – Straight Damage

Below is the core talents for fire, if you want to tinker with a build this is the starting point you should work from.

Molten Armor provides the best DPS boost but you will need to use Mage Armor if you find yourself running out of mana mid fight.

Every fire mage in the raid should be contributing to keep Improved Scorch on the target at all times. You should be able to cast 5-8 Fireball‘s and then 1 Scorch. The amount will depend on your haste rating and how often you have to move during the fight.

Make sure to combine your temporary buffs with Bloodlust / Heroism and Molten Fury. You should use CombustionIcy Veins and your trinkets at the same time.

PVE TBC Arcane Mage DPS Guide (Short)

Welcome to our PVE Arcane Mage guide for WoW TBC. This guide will show you what you need to know to DPS as an Arcane Mage in dungeons and raids. This guide covers everything from talents to consumables.

Talents

Arcane requires you to min/max your gear. It requires a ton of mana management but you are left with crazy burst damage. Arcane has lower gear requirements than fire due to Arcane Focus providing 10% hit.

Arcane Mage Build

This build takes Cold Snap from the frost tree giving you two Ice Block‘s to stay alive as well as Icy Veins to increase your damage output.

Rotation

Use Mage Armor to increase your mana regeneration.

Arcane Blast is your primary damage spell but it uses a lot of mana. As you cast Arcane Blast it leaves a mana consumption debuff which prevents you from just chain casting Arcane Blast. (You will run out of mana)

Frostbolt is your filler when the Arcane Blast debuff has maxed out and you need to let the debuff fall off. The balance of Arcane Blast to Frostbolt is something you will have to feel out due to it being based on your mana pool and the length of each boss encounter.

Fire Blast is a filler spell that can be used when you are moving around to get some extra damage in.

Don’t forget to activate Arcane Power and then chain cast Arcane Blast to perform insane burst damage.
